Kara, I do not know if I met you when I visited Mary Lou my cousin in D. C. but your post brings back a very special memory concerning that visit. There were several friends of Mary Lou that I met but I can not remember any of their names and one could possibly have been you. To make a long long story short as possible. I was in the navy, stationed in Bainbridge, MD. I found out that Mary Lou worked and lived in the metro D. C. area. I had a 72 hour leave and decided to sight see the D. C. area and pay her a visit. (She had no idea that I was in the navy much less in the D. C. area.) I found her at work about 4:00 PM and the resulting circumstances were that we went "Dutch" to a restaurant with some of her friends. When there after ordering drinks before the meal, May Lou whispered/asked me how old I was. – At that time in Louisiana the drinking age was 18 while in D. C. it was 21 (but I did not realize that at the time). In the navy one did not bother about the specific date but more about the day of the week. My reply was something to the effect, "Not knowing the date I have no idea but on the 6'th (of February 1965) I will be or I am 21." Mary Lou's immediate response was, "Today's your birthday!!!!!" Mary Lou made that weekend special; in the navy with family on your 21 birthday.
